Importing Firearms from the USA
There are some special costs involved with importing firearms from the US to Canada.
- Export fee from exporter in the states: 3% of the firearm's value, or $500 (whichever is greater).
- Freight charges.
- Canadian brokerage fees: 3.5% of the firearm's value.
- Canadian taxes: 13% of the firearm's value.
- Duty: 10% of the firearm's value if it is not manufactured in the USA.
Some important notes:
- You must make sure the firearm can be legally exported from the US.
- You must make sure the firearm can be legally imported into Canada.
- The US seller must be paid for the cost of the firearm before it can be sent to the US exporter.
